Smartricity is an e-commerce platform that provides consumers with transparent data regarding the energy efficiency of electric devices. The devices on the platform can be compared not only on the basis of the purchase price, but also on the basis of the long-term operating costs. Additionally, the platform is able to display similar devices, e.g. to find a more efficient replacement for an existing old one. Besides the proprietary website and app, the software is also available for integration in various license models for the energy industry and online retail.

The platform is built on the Smartricity backend. To generate probably one of the largest catalogues for electronic devices and generate value from it, the team started matching, processing and deduplicating e-commerce data from various sources. Since then, Smartricity´s infrastructure has grown and now provides e-commerce data processing for several clients, e.g. one of Germany’s TOP 3 price comparison websites.

The Smartricity GmbH was founded in 2018 in Passau, Germany. By combining one of the most comprehensive appliance databases in the field of household electronics together with machine learning algorithms, Smartricity has created a user-friendly and transparent e-commerce platform platform. Thanks to this technology, the power consumption of appliances is predicted very accurately individually for different households - without the need for expensive measurement methods. The team was able to obtain both an EXIST start-up grant from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the "Start?Zuschuss!" funding program from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
